Flower Care

At Gawler Flower Gallery we pride ourselves on providing the freshest and highest quality flowers. It is important to remember that flowers are a perishable, natural product that will react to their immediate environment.

Care instructions should be followed thoroughly in order to increase the life span and enjoyment of your flowers. To assist in prolonging their life, we recommend cutting the stems on a sharp angle and changing the water in the vase every two days. Air conditioning, extreme heat or changes in climate will have an adverse effect on the flowers. Unfortunately, with all the possible variables, it is difficult for Gawler Flower Gallery to guarantee the flower longevity in every case.

The first 24 hours from the delivery is the most crucial period affecting the longevity of your flowers as they absorb half the water they require to survive during this time.

Please follow these important care instructions to assist your flowers in staying healthy for as long as possible:
  • Recut all stems approximately 3-4cm every time the flowers are placed in fresh water.
  • Keep flowers in a cool place but away from draughts.
  • Keep flowers away from extreme heat and cold, eg. heaters, airconditioners, TV, microwaves, computers.
  • Keep flowers away from fruits: fruit releases a gas called ethylene, which accelerates the ageing process of cut flowers.
  • You may use a few drops of bleach and spoonful of sugar as an alternative to flower food preservative.

Cancellation of Orders

Should you wish to cancel an order, money will be refunded less a $15 administrative fee, ONLY IF notice is received by Gawler Flower Gallery at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled delivery date. Cancellations received with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at 50% of the total order value.

We are unable to cancel orders that are already prepared and are with our courier for delivery. Refunds will be credited to the original purchasing credit card.

Availability Policy

Due to the seasonal nature of fresh flowers, it is not possible to provide all flower varieties all year round. Unusually warm or cool weather may also affect availability. Therefore it may be necessary to substitute components of an arrangement that will still maintain the design integrity and value of the arrangement ordered.

Toxic flowers to pets
Lilies are known to be poisonous to cats if digested and can kill them.  This includes the flower and the stems.  This flower should be avoided if cats are not able to be kept away from the flowers.
